Having put in place a programme of continuing environmental enhancement and having commenced an inner city urban renewal programme, including refurbishment of all government buildings, improvement of water supply, repaving roadways, maintenance of street verges and clearing of overgrown vacant lots,The FNM in its second term will:
Continue its policy of sustained maintenance of all public buildings. Complete or refurbish new government office complexes in historic, but rundown and neglected parts of the City of Nassau, including the National Art Gallery at Villa Doyle on West Hill Street. Construct new offices for the Ministry of Health and Environment on Poinciana Hill, at Augusta, Meeting and Delancy Streets. Accelerate the re-development of traditional "Over-the-Hill" neighbourhoods with a view to replacement of sub-standard houses, and the elimination of outside latrines. Enhance existing parks and green spaces in urban areas, particularly in crowded New Providence neighbourhoods. Ensure the construction of a craft market and a hair-braiders facility at Paradise Island.
